For an editor and proofreader, I didn’t do too well in reading the instructions on that letter I mentioned in a deleted post. If any of you got hold of it, please keep mum. Sorry about that! I wasn’t supposed to say a thing for a few days!

Mum’s the word and CONGRATULATIONS, girlfriend!! 🙂 Sooo cool!!
I did get a little ahead of myself, Linda. I’ll repost the original soon, but I certainly thank you for your good wishes. They mean a lot.
Don’t you hate that fine print? LOL Your secret’s safe with us. Enjoyed the news, though! Have you ever tried the Phoenix Rattler Contest? Here’s a link: http://christianwritersofthewest.weebly.com/phoenix-rattler-contest.html
We entered in 2009 and got such rave reviews from our first judge we just knew we were going to win the whole thing! The other two judges were way-less thrilled. Such is life in this subjective business we’re in, eh?
Brenda, I’m supposed to be good at fine print. Sigh. I hope it’s not age settling in…
And you’re absolutely right about subjectivity. I’ve found this whole season of dipping my toes in contest waters highly diverting. I almost wish I could do a spreadsheet of the various comments for may three entries. Each has at least made finalist in a contest. Now two of them have hit top honors in their respective categories. But in other contests? One of those that hit the high mark plummeted in another and vice versa. So interesting, and just goes to show that it’s a completely subjective business. I will say that the most gracious and noteworthy comments came from published writers who judged. The unpublished ones (now, not all, but a goodly number) seemed to walk lock-step with their rule books.
